The Humanities Institute at UC Santa Cruz is a vibrant hub for Humanities research, education, and public engagement. They support scholars to expand the scale and scope of their work, engage broad communities in compelling ideas, and inspire the next generation of leaders in the Humanities and beyond. The Humanities Institute wanted to collaborate on a film to help show and define their year long Public Fellowship program.
This video addressed the challenges facing graduate education in the humanities. THI is intervening in a international and national conversation about the decline of the humanities and making a case for why a PhD in the humanities matters.
The film helped to showcase how universities can work with graduate students and partner organizations to make this type of training available to students on other campuses. The film focused on how these opportunities enrich students’ scholarship and prepares them to pursue diverse careers and also benefit partner organizations both locally and around the world.
